Maid For The Rockstar by Demelza Carlton Review
What I Thought
Jason Felix, member of rock band, Chaya, has just had his life turned upside down at the announcement of a band member leaving and splitting the band up. He’s not ready to be a retired rockstar. Jay decides to take some time out, to relax and check out the resort of Romance Island for a month, with the thought to purchase it to run if his way of life suddenly does change.
Audra works at the resort but is after more responsibility in order to be kept on there during off season. She is handed more responsibility in the form of maid to the Pearl Villas. The villas where the rich and famous VIP’s stay. Meaning complete confidentiality and non-disclosure. It is upon cleaning one of the villas that Audra comes across a certain rockstar who has starred in her fantasies for years, Jay Felix. He is as hot in the flesh as she imagined but it turns out he is completely egotistical, cocky and arrogant with it!
Jay is constantly flirting with and innitiating sexual encounters with Audra, due to a non fraternization policy at the resort, if she indulged, she would be out of a job and this, Audra cannot afford. Being constantly at Jay’s beck and call as his maid is tiresome. Often being called to his villa just due to him being lonely. Audra hopes this is just a stepping stone to her dream job though after recently completeing her degree. Doesn’t stop her fantasizing about Jay though and what being with him would be like.
Jay is used to an endless line of women, so being in a remote place, that doesn’t even have cell reception nevermind the lack of a supply of willing ladies makes him restless and he wonders why he keeps thinking about a certain maid.
After being in a car accident, the only person Jay wants looking after him is Audra. This means her losing out on her days off and coming close to missing a deadline to complete her application for her dream job. Does she get that application in on time? Is Jay really about to become a retired rockstar? Can Audra carry on resisting a man who makes it clear as day he wants her and who she lusts after?
This isn’t going to be too long of a review really. I struggled with this story. I was a bit hesitant to start after seeing such a mixture of reviews on Goodreads, and put off the book a few times. I finally decided take the plunge. The storyline just didn’t grip me. I struggled to keep concentrating on it. If you follow my blog, you know I love a rockstar story with a bad boy, sadly this one just wasn’t for me. There just wasn’t enough rockstar based storyline for me and the main character, Jay, just didn’t do it for me either. He was just a little to conceited.
The story is writen from the male and female point of view, but it is also written in the third person which I find, makes it a little hard to connect with the characters. The pace to the story is a little slow. I found the writing skill of Demelza to be good but there just wasn’t enough going on in the story for me.
